Assessment Centres Case Study: I design and run assessment centres for senior managers for a particular local authority. I liaise with the selection panel on which clusters of competencies are desirable for the post in question. I administer a personality questionnaire, the Cattell 16PF, and a measure of verbal or critical reasoning. Sometimes we also use a written test of knowledge or a simulation. I give feedback to the candidates and provide them with an opportunity to corroborate or dispute the findings. Then I provide feedback to the interview panel on each candidate, ideally before each interview, but sometimes at the end, before the decision is made. |
