Organisational Reviews and Evaluation

Case Studies:

An art gallery wanted to raise standards, increase its market and improve its building. The gallery was staffed by two self-employed part-time people, who did not have the required capabilities between them to undertake the changes. In addition, the Board wished to regularise their employment in order to more easily direct their activities.

Job analysis was done and staffing levels determined to cover increased opening hours and new responsibilities of marketing and fundraising. Job descriptions, employment contracts and person specifications were written and salary set. An advertisement was written, and behavioural questions provided for the interview, along with work sample tests. a successful appointment was made and various recommended changes put in place.

Other reviews have included:

  • A study of the staffing of a marina, with recommendations for a changed management structure, and reallocation of responsibilities.

  • An organisational review of a museum, suggesting that the café be franchised or significantly alter its working, and that new posts of Finance Manager and Marketing Officer be created.

  • A staff survey of another museum, with suggestions for improving communication and giving personnel advice.

  • Organisational development for a large regional art gallery examining strategic direction and policies with the board and analysing the tasks required of staff, both existing and proposed.
